BYLAW NO. 26-2022

A BYLAW TO RESTRICT THE PLACEMENT OF SNOW CLEARED FROM PRIVATE LAND ON ROADWAYS

The Council of the Rural Municipality of Vanscoy No. 345 in the Province of Saskatchewan, enacts as follows:

1. This bylaw shall be referred to as the Snow-piling Restriction Bylaw.

 

2. For the purpose of this bylaw the expression:

 

a. “Municipality” means the Rural Municipality of Vanscoy No. 345;

 

b. “Road Allowance” as defined by The Highways and Transportation Act, 1997;

 

c. “Roadway” means that part of a public highway designed or intended for use by vehicles, including the shoulder.


3. When clearing snow from private property, including, but not limited to, driveways, snow shall not be piled:

 

a. On the roadway;


b. Anywhere within the road allowance, including the ditch.


Every person who contravenes any provision of this bylaw is guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to the penalties imposed by the General Penalty Bylaw of the Municipality and/or shall be liable for the cost incurred by the Municipality to relocate snow piled on the road or within the road allowance, including within the ditch.

 

This bylaw will be strictly enforced through the penalties outlined in the General Penalty Bylaw. Compliance is expected and required.
